WORK WITH ME
Engaging a lawyer for the first time can feel daunting.
Here is exactly what happens, step-by-step.
-
Pick a time that suits you for a free 15-minute call. We'll talk through the issues affecting your business and how I can help. Book a time that suits you here.
-
I will follow up by email with an engagement letter. This sets out the work I'll be doing and what it will cost.
-
When you are happy to proceed, just email me back the signed engagement letter. It can be signed electronically, so there's no need to print anything.
-
Some matters require funds to be held in trust before work begins. This simply means that your money will be held in a separate, regulated account and can only be used for the work set out in your engagement letter. Where this applies, I typically request 50% of the estimated costs upfront, with the remaining 50% due on completion.
-
Within 2 business days I will email you to:
Confirm receipt of any trust payment and your signed letter
Ask for any further documents or information relevant to your matter
-
Once I've reviewed the material, I will arrange to meet you. This can be at your business (metro Adelaide), by phone, or via Teams/Zoom. These meetings usually take 45–60 minutes.
-
With the groundwork done through our discussions and document review, I continue working on your matter and keep you informed as things progress.
-
Once your matter is resolved, I’ll provide you with an invoice to finalise your account. Any unused funds held in trust will then be returned to you and you can get back to what you do best.
